A Trip to Wadi Dayqah

Well, we had been in Oman nearly 1 month and had not yet been too far out of Muscat, so what should we decide to do? You guessed it - travel 1.5 hours through the mountains and over the deserts in 117 degree weather to see Wadi Dayqah (Wadi means 'dry creek bed' and Dayqah means 'narrow torrent'.) Our Oman: Off-Road Book says this is one of the must see locations in Oman.  (Note: my boys have asked that we not return.)  Does that surprise you?  Look at the name.

The two pictures below were it for the entire day.  If you look closely at the nice rocks behind us, I am sure you will see the one I gracefully slid down, crushing my poor Canon camera, not to mention my hip and arm.  But, heh, I am supposed to find joy in this journey and I was happy to determine that I did not twist my knee which I thought was a very good possibility when I first landed.  The entire visit took 10 minutes in the Wadi and 15 minutes to clean everyone up.  But we were spending time as a family, and that makes memories.

A view from the Wadi--the boys were sure it was a castle. We never did figure out what it was.
